Kathryn D. Farmer is a Partner in the law firm of Rosenfeld Hafron Shapiro & Farmer. She received her J.D. from Loyola University School of Law in 1983 and since that time she has concentrated her practice in all areas of family law.
Ms. Farmer has been certified as an Arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), certified as a Mediator by the Domestic Relations Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois and certified in Collaborative Law by the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois.
Ms. Farmer was selected by her peers as one of the Top 10 Illinois Women Attorneys for the years 2016 and 2017 and as one of the Top 50 Illinois Women Attorneys for the years 2008 and 2009. Ms. Farmer has also been voted an Illinois Super Lawyer since the inception of this designation and is listed in both Leading American Attorneys and Leading Lawyers in the area of family law.
Ms. Farmer became a Fellow of the AAML in 1994 and by 2002 she received the AAML President’s Special Recognition Award for outstanding service. Ms. Farmer received the AAML’s highest recognition in 2016, the Samuel S. Berger Award in recognition of her high level of integrity, knowledge of family law and her extraordinary ability to solve human problems. Since 1999,
Ms. Farmer has continuously served on the AAML Illinois Chapter’s Board of Managers and she has held all offices including, President.
On the National level of the AAML, Ms. Farmer holds the office of Illinois Delegate to the Board of Governors. Ms. Farmer is also an active Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers where she has held the office of Legal Counsel to the USA Chapter.
Ms. Farmer has lectured extensively on various issues of family law for the AAML, the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education and private organizations.
