
Kathy Bazoian Phelps has 25 years of experience as a lawyer in Bankruptcy Law and Fraud Litigation. Her practice areas include representing trustees, debtors or creditors in bankruptcy cases and other Insolvency proceedings.
Kathy attended Pomona College where she earned her B.A. in 1988. She also attended the University of California at Los Angeles and graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 1991.
Kathy regularly represents trustees and receivers in the United States District Court, the United States Bankruptcy Court, and the Superior Court of the State of California.
She also defends defendants in bankruptcy litigation, particularly in Ponzi scheme cases, and has wide experience litigating a broad spectrum of bankruptcy matters.
Kathy has been invited to lecture in many places and platfroms, specifically on bankruptcy and receivership matters, with a focus on Ponzi schemes. She titled her new book The Ponzi Book: A Legal Resource for Unraveling Ponzi Schemes which was co-authored by Hon. Steven Rhodes. The text has received national and international attention and has been tagged as the authoritative work on Ponzi scheme law.
Apart from being a lawyer, speaker and author, Kathy also serves as a mediator. She currently sits on the Bankruptcy Mediation Panel for the Central District of California.
