Katie Kelly Rudderman counsels employers on how to avoid litigation and defends employers when lawsuits are filed against them. To avoid litigation, Katie assists employers in developing best practices through policies and procedures and advises employers on decisions involving all aspects of employment law, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA); the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); and other federal, state and local employment laws.

She also prepares and updates employment applications and forms, employee handbooks, non-competition and confidentiality agreements, and other employment-related documents and agreements. Katie provides training for management and non-managerial employees on identifying, preventing and reporting harassment and discrimination in the workplace.

Katie also works with employers to defend against charges of discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, wage and hour violations, and other claims when filed with governmental agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, Office of Personnel Management, and Florida Commission on Human Relations.

She also defends employers in lawsuits filed by current and former employees ranging from allegations of discrimination, harassment and retaliation to allegations of FLSA, FMLA and ADA violations. From analyzing complex legal issues to defending traditional claims of discrimination, Katie seeks to efficiently minimize risk for employers in all aspects of employment law.

Clients can expect Katie to listen to all relevant pieces of the issue puzzle because she wants to understand the various business, personnel and morale aspects that may be affected.
