Kenneth Curtin has more than 20 years of experience representing developers, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, temporary help agencies, architects, engineers, interior designers, and other design professionals in state and federal courts and in arbitration proceedings. He also advances clients’ interests before Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation agencies such as the Construction Industry Licensing Board, Board of Architecture and Interior Design and Division of Real Estate.
Many landlords, including a company that owns regional malls around the country, come to Ken for help resolving the many-faceted disputes faced by commercial property owners including landlord/tenant issues, vendor and land use disputes, and actions involving shopper access such as actions asserting violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Increasingly, Ken handles high-end insurance defense, products liability and construction defect cases, drawing in part from his early-career work in insurance defense for construction projects, and on matters involving collapsed buildings and commercial disasters and hazards such as fires and explosions, and other industrial accidents.
With an MBA and a master’s degree in public administration, Ken also counsels clients on the business aspects of their operations. As a board-certified attorney, he stays tightly hooked into information sources, maintaining close relationships with the relevant regulatory bodies that consider proposals and recommendations within the industry and construction law changes affecting all aspects of the construction industry.
While primarily a litigator, Ken also drafts and reviews contracts, bringing a litigator’s perspective that enables him to realize ambiguities that could lead to litigation, and then he cleans up the document to prevent trouble down the road.
