Kenneth M. Trombly, Partner, is a civil trial attorney licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and Maryland, who limits his practice to representing plaintiffs and their families in catastrophic injury and wrongful death litigation in state and federal courts. He is one of only a dozen Washington, DC-based attorneys who are board certified as a “Civil Trial Advocate” by the National Board of Trial Advocacy – an ABA recognized designation based on demonstrated jury trial experience, a written examination, and references from both judges in whose courts he has tried a jury case, as well as defence attorneys against whom he has litigated.
A graduate of Columbus School of Law of The Catholic University of America, he was a staff member of the Catholic University Law Review, a student coordinator of the school’s Columbus Community Legal Services clinic, and a participant in its then fledgling Law Students in Court Criminal Justice Clinical Program. Mr. Trombly earned his undergraduate degree at The George Washington University.
As a young lawyer, before his legal practice took on its present focus, he regularly accepted court appointments to represent indigent criminal defendants in the District of Columbia. During this period, he attended the National College of Criminal Defence in Houston, TX, and was the recipient of a U.S. Department of Justice grant to assist him in furthering his training as a trial lawyer.
In the early 1980’s, when Ken began representing people who were injured on account of the negligence of others, he found this work to be both emotionally and intellectually rewarding – and within a decade, his law practice had gradually become solely focused on representing catastrophically injured persons and their families. In 2010, he was honoured by the Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington, DC as Trial Lawyer of the Year.
