Kent Buis was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and moved to the Atlanta area as a young adult. He has been married to Debra Carter for 35 years. They have three adult children. Kent is an Eagle scout, was a private pilot, and enjoys woodworking and reading in his spare time.
After many years as a computer programmer, software consultant, and road warrior, Kent decided that he didn’t want to retire and didn’t want to write more if then statements. Instead he went to law school with the goal of passing the Bar and becoming an attorney before the age of 60. In January, 2017, he opened a solo law practice in Cobb County, and joined The Law Office of James E. Goad, PC in 2018, where the goal is to help people to resolve a legal problem.
Kent has been admitted to practice in the Georgia Supreme Court, Georgia Court of Appeals, and the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. He is a member of the Cobb County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
