Kevin J. Madden is a senior counsel and business lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. Mr. Madden advises public and private company clients in a wide variety of industries, including technology, life sciences, and manufacturing, from start-up through IPO, on a broad range of transactions, including company formation, growth and venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, public and private offerings of securities and general securities law advice, general corporate matters, as well as commercial contracts, including licensing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and development, supply, employment, and consulting arrangements.
Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Madden was an associate in the Boston office of a prominent global law firm, where he represented and advised private equity firms, venture capital firms, and their respective portfolio companies in a variety of transactions.
He served as principal draftsman and lead negotiator of various contracts and agreements, conducted and coordinated legal due diligence, and managed and oversaw associates, specialists, and foreign counsel in all aspects of transactions.
Mr. Madden was also an associate and summer associate with a Boston-based law firm, where he was a member of its Corporate Practice Group. During this time, he negotiated and drafted agreements for complex private equity and strategic M&A transactions and negotiated NDAs and oversaw initial bid submissions in a sale process.
Education :
Mr. Madden earned his law degree from American University Washington College of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2010), where he served as a staff member of American University Law Review and won the Lura E. Turley Prize for his outstanding publication.
Mr. Madden received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Bates College (B.A., 2005), where he was a representative for the Student Athlete Advisory Counsel and captain for the college’s varsity football team.
