Kevin D. Makowski is a partner and business lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP and co-chair of the firm’s International Practice. His work focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, and complex commercial transactions.
Mr. Makowski serves as general outside counsel for several U.S. subsidiaries of foreign multinational companies and smaller to mid-sized privately held entrepreneurial companies.
Mr. Makowski has broad experience working regularly with clients in a variety of industries, including the manufacturing, publishing, food and consumer products industries. Cross-border transactions are a particular emphasis of his practice.
Mr. Makowski has extensive experience representing U.S. and foreign companies in complex multi-national transactions, and has been a frequent speaker on topics related to this practice.
Education :
Mr. Makowski graduated Phi Beta Kappa having received his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Cincinnati in 1992. He received his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995.
From 1993 to 1995 he served as associate and senior editor of the Journal of International Business Law. He is the author of “German Federal Constitutional Court’s Decision on Accession to the Treaty on the EU” (Journal of International Business Law, Vol. 16, No. 1).
