Kyle Sommer is an Associate in the firm’s New York office where he practices corporate immigration law. He provides strategic counseling on nonimmigrant visas and permanent residence and advice with respect to criminal and other inadmissibility grounds to clients in various industries, including consulting, technology, tax, audit, financial advisory services, and fashion.
Prior to joining Fragomen, Kyle worked on corporate immigration matters for a global software development company and a global IT consulting firm. While in law school, he studied abroad with the Notre Dame Law School London Law Program, served as an editor of the Journal of Legislation, and worked as a Public Interest Fellow with a boutique immigration firm focusing on family and employment-based immigration.
Kyle mentors high school students at Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, including leading a focus group that provides immigration, educational, and career guidance to immigrant students. Kyle provides pro bono representation to asylum seekers, including an LGBT client in partnership with Immigration Equality.
He also participates pro bono in various immigration clinics and Fragomen’s Unaccompanied Minors Project in partnership with the Safe Passage Project to determine eligibility for various forms of immigration relief, including asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), U Visas, Violence Against Women’s Act (VAWA), and naturalization. He also provided pro bono career transition support to refugees at the International Rescue Committee.
