Lara Wagner is the owner and principal attorney of the Law Offices of Lara Wagner, LLC. She comes from a family of immigrants and grew up listening to stories about how her great-grandparents came to the United States. Her practice focuses on helping people navigate the complex immigration system and build a life in the United States, just as her family has done.
Lara earned her Juris Doctor from University of Michigan Law School in 2014. She began working in immigration law in 2012, as an intern with a national non-profit resettling refugees from Asia and the Middle East.
She later worked with Michigan Law’s Human Trafficking Clinic, where she assisted both foreign national and U.S. citizen victims. Prior to founding the Law Offices of Lara Wagner LLC, Lara worked as a fellow with Chicago’s National Immigrant Justice Center’s Asylum Project.
Lara is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, where she serves as the YLS Chair of the Future of the Profession Committee, and the Chicago Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, where she serves on the Asylum Liaison Committee.
She is the current president of the Chinese Mutual Aid Association’s Associate Board and is a member of the National Immigrant Justice Center’s Junior Leadership Board. She also volunteers with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, where she helps run a monthly immigration clinic, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago.
