Larry Burch has been a successful trial attorney for over 22 years. Mr. Burch has advised and represented clients in cases of civil and criminal litigation; including high dollar medical malpractice, personal injury cases and civil litigation. As former Navy JAG Officer he has also represented military personnel matters with appearances on Fox 5 News and WUSATV 9 to comment on military law issues.
Larry was born and bred in Washington, D.C. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree (in English with honors) from the University of Maryland, College Park. Mr. Burch proceeded to University of Iowa College of Law and graduated in 1991.
As a law student, he was a member of The Iowa Law Review and served on the Moot Court Board as a Case Editor. After law school, Larry returned to Washington DC where he served as a Judicial Clerk to the Honourable Audrey Melbourne in the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland. He became a member of the Maryland Bar in 1992. He was also commissioned as an officer in the Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps that year.
In 1966, upon completion of active duty, Mr. Burch started a private law practice. He continued to serve as a Navy Reserve officer offering legal help and other legal services to military families at the National Naval Medical Centre until 2007.
Larry served a total of 15 years as a Navy JAG Corps officer (both on active duty and as a drilling reservist). He has not stopped representing military service members and their dependents as a civilian attorney in both military and civilian legal issues since he left the navy.
In 1996, 3 years after starting his private law practice, he entered a partnership with his sister called, The Law Office of Burch & Burch Rates in Greenbelt, Maryland. Since over 20 years of establishing the law firm in Greenbelt, Mr. Burch has successfully advised and represented clients in different legal matters; such as, family law, medical malpractice and car accident cases causing wrongful death and severe disability claims, business and corporate litigation, and military personnel issues.
Mr. Burch is passionate and experienced in assisting military service members and their dependents with divorces, security clearances, pensions, court martials, Admin and disability boards and in conducting civilian legal matters.
