An experienced patent lawyer, Laura Christine Brutman joined Schiff Hardin as a partner in the Intellectual Property Group in 2013. She currently serves as the firm’s Patent Prosecution Group Leader.
During the course of her career, she has obtained thousands of patents on behalf of U.S., European and Japanese corporations. She is the author of numerous patent validity and infringement opinions.
Recognizing that patented intellectual properties are among a company’s most valuable assets, Laura provides her clients with advice and guidance in all areas of patents, including prosecution, post-grant proceedings, client counseling, license negotiation, due diligence and litigation.
Laura’s academic training as an electrical engineer is integral to her thorough understanding of a variety of complex technologies. She draws on her deep technical knowledge and extensive legal experience to offer clients smart, strategic counsel and solutions that help them protect and defend their patents.
