
Laura R. Hammargren is a partner in Mayer Brown’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice, assisting clients in navigating all trial aspects of complex investigations and commercial litigation. In addition, Laura serves as co-leader of Mayer Brown’s Health Care practice.
In her investigations practice, Laura represents corporations and individuals in internal investigations or who are under investigation by federal and state authorities for False Claims Act (FCA), Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and other regulatory violations.
Laura has significant experience representing clients in matters involving the DOJ and other government agencies, including the Department of Labor and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Laura has also done work and advised clients on federal and state data privacy laws and the overlap between investigations and privacy issues.
Her civil practice focuses on complex commercial and regulatory matters, particularly ERISA litigation, having defended companies, officers and directors, and other alleged ERISA plan fiduciaries in several 401(k) class action lawsuits.
Her experience includes several adversary proceedings, from agency hearings to federal class action lawsuits, involving ERISA claims for wrongful denial of benefits or employment claims for wrongful termination. Laura is particularly well-versed on the unique needs of clients in the health care, financial services and government contracting industries in regulatory or federal court actions.
Laura joined Mayer Brown in 2012. Prior to joining the Firm, Laura served as law clerk to Justice Helen Meyer of the Minnesota Supreme Court.
