Laura Fischer earned her undergraduate degree in Journalism with a minor in Business and Economics from Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa.
In 1994, Laura moved to Alabama to take an editorial position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, nationally known for its premier medical school and hospitals.
She received her law degree in 1999 from the University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
While attending law school, Laura served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Law & Psychology Review. She was the research and editorial assistant in the area of environmental and water pollution law.
Laura was a member of Law School’s Trial Advocacy Team and won an award for her Oral Advocacy skills in Moot Court.
She earned best paper awards in law school and was a member of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society and held clerkship positions at an insurance defense firm, a plaintiff’s practice, at the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office and with a copyright and intellectual property practitioner.
Laura began her career in the defense and litigation department of the largest firm in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
