Lauren E. Becker is an Associate in the Labor & Employment Department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s New York office. Ms. Becker focuses her practice on defending employers against complex class and collective actions based on purported violations of various wage and hour, civil rights, and employment discrimination laws.
Ms. Becker defends single-plaintiff matters in federal and state courts, as well as administrative tribunals, pursuant to claims of harassment, retaliation, and discrimination based on characteristics protected under federal, state, and city laws.
Ms. Becker counsels employers regarding newly enacted legislation that may impact the lawfulness of existing business practices and employment policies. In addition, Ms. Becker advises employers on how to mitigate and thoughtfully address claims of harassment, retaliation, and discrimination in the workplace.
In that respect, Ms. Becker counsels employers on how to navigate federal, state, and city administrative agency proceedings when facing charges of employment discrimination. Ms. Becker also provides pro bono counsel to businesses in this same context.
While attending law school, Ms. Becker supported seven administrative law judges as a judicial law clerk with the National Labor Relations Board Division of Judges in New York City. After graduating law school, Lauren worked as a Labor & Employment Associate at another Am Law 100 firm.
Prior to law school, Ms. Becker assisted in the defense of complex discrimination class actions, wage and hour class and collective actions, and single-plaintiff lawsuits as a Case Assistant in Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Chicago office. As an undergraduate, Ms. Becker developed and executed communications strategy for an Illinois State Senator.
