
Lauren Davis is a Denver based attorney with twenty years of legal experience. Since 2009, she has devoted her practice to Colorado’s marijuana laws, focusing on medical and recreational marijuana business licensing, patient and caregiver compliance and regulatory issues, as well as general criminal defense.
Lauren’s marijuana practice focuses on advising marijuana dispensary owners, growers and infused products manufacturers to ensure they establish legally compliant State and local businesses, and stay compliant. Lauren works closely with local and state regulatory agencies, tax specialists and business professionals to ensure her clients stay legal and informed.
Whether her clients need help brainstorming lawful business ideas, setting up companies, drafting contracts, buying or selling business, filing licensing paperwork, educating their employees about the complex rules governing their business operations, or have specific regulatory compliance or administrative concerns, Lauren provides passionate, vigorous representation specifically tailored to her clients’ goals and needs.
Lauren also remains committed to protecting the Constitutional rights of patients, caregivers and adults over the age of 21 in Colorado. She currently advises dozens of patients, caregivers and adults regarding Colorado’s marijuana laws and helps them understand the complex Constitutional and local laws that impact their rights.
To round out her practice, Lauren also focuses on representing individuals charged with various criminal offenses ranging from marijuana cultivation, to possession, to distribution, to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and more.
Lauren has tried over a hundred cases to verdict. Her passionate, persuasive courtroom skills, and intricate understanding of how prosecutions proceed helps her receive favorable outcomes for her clients.
Lauren has been a key member of the legal teams involved in cutting edge medical marijuana litigation throughout the State of Colorado. She successfully defended one of the first physicians charged in Colorado for recommending marijuana; sued the City of Centennial for trying to ban dispensaries; sued the Colorado Department of Health for its “emergency” attempt to change the definition of primary caregiver; sued municipalities for attempting to ban Centers through zoning and more.
Lauren was appointed by Colorado’s Governor to serve on the Law Enforcement Subcommittee of the Amendment 64 Taskforce, and was an alternate delegate to the general Task Force. She also has been retained by prominent Colorado criminal defense attorneys as an expert witness and case consultant on marijuana law cases.
Lauren holds a Juris Doctor from the prestigious New York University (NYU) School of Law. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
She served for 10 years as a Deputy District Attorney in New York City and Denver. Lauren currently serves on the Executive Board of Colorado NORML, advocating for marijuana reform. When she is not working, you can find Lauren skiing, mountain biking, hiking or playing in the outdoors.
