Lauren Connell

Lauren Connell is Akin Gump’s pro bono counsel.  In this role, she works with the pro bono partner to manage the firm’s pro bono practice.Ms. Connell maintains an active practice focused on immigration matters and advising non-profit organizations. Before becoming pro bono counsel, she practiced corporate law at Akin Gump, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and securities transactions.

Prior to this, she began her Akin Gump career working as the coordinator of the Karnes City Immigrant Family Pro Bono Project in San Antonio, Texas. In this role, Ms. Connell represented detained Central American women and children refugees seeking asylum in the United States and also coordinated the pro bono effort to match attorneys to clients. Her work was profiled in the National Law Journal and also recognized in The New York Times Magazine.

Ms. Connell graduated summa cum laude from the George Washington University in 2009 with a B.A. in International Affairs. She received her J.D. in 2014 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, with a Certificate in Management from the Wharton School. While in law school, Ms. Connell served as an Executive Editor of The University of Pennsylvania Journal of International Law.
