Lauren Douville

Lauren Douville’s practice focuses on complex patent, trademark and copyright litigation involving a wide range of technologies including telecommunications, video-on-demand systems, computer software, power grid systems, navigation and optical sensing techniques.

Lauren has handled all aspects of litigation. In particular, she has drafted Markman briefs, prepared and responded to successful dispositive motions, and helped manage all aspects of fact and expert discovery and trial.

Lauren also has taken or defended numerous depositions, including expert depositions, on a broad range of issues. She has experience preparing and cross-examining witnesses at trial in federal court.

She recently cross-examined a witness in a trial where the jury returned a verdict in favor of Lauren’s client for a full damages request, finding all five asserted patents valid and willfully infringed.

Lauren also has experience arguing at hearings in federal court. In addition to litigation, Lauren has assisted in the prosecution of patent applications and inter partes review filings.

Before attending law school, Lauren interned for a local hospital where she researched the effects of arterial calcium on patients’ health. Lauren also interned at the Center for Practical Bioethics, which is a local non-profit dedicated to helping patients and families navigate difficult healthcare decisions and issues.

During her time at the Center, Lauren co-authored two publications concerning healthcare workers’ knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs regarding mandatory influenza vaccines.
