Lauren Sembler represents developers of large, mixed-use, commercial, and residential projects. She handles all aspects of their commercial real estate and business transactions, including the purchase and sale of both improved and unimproved property, business planning and implementation, transaction structuring, and a variety of financing transactions.
Lauren also represents landlords and tenants in commercial leasing transactions involving shopping centers, medical facilities, and office buildings. She also handles real estate matters for health care clients, including hospitals and medical practices. As a result, she is familiar with the unique issues these transactions involve, such as Stark and anti-kickback compliance, HIPAA, and protected health information (PHI).
Lauren has additional experience representing financial institutions and borrowers in lending workouts and complex loan transactions, including loans secured by business assets and real estate.
After beginning her legal career with Carlton Fields, Lauren left the firm to join her family business, a firm that develops and manages real estate and invests in a variety of companies. She served as vice president, handling loans, acquisitions and dispositions of companies, and corporate governance issues.
In this role, as a first-time consumer of legal services, she learned to think like a client. When she returned to Carlton Fields in 2016, this mindset informed her practice. As a result, she prioritizes practical, actionable advice and frequent, clear communication.
