Terrible
I hired Ms. Schmidt for a ridiculous domestic violence involving one text message. Ms. Schmidt Was aware of the evidence and the character of the person who was accusing me and making up the story. At first, she seemed to want to help me as my career was on the line but as time went on, she seemed more concerned about her relationship with the Prosecutor, I paid ten thousand dollars to eventually just end up doing what I could have done in the first place was to plead to a deferred sentence. I had no confidence in her, she seemed uninterested in really defending me and basically talked me out of going to trial. She instilled no confidence in me and once again when the DA changed, she seemed more worried about her relationship with him than fighting for me. I took out a loan for this woman’s services and only recently paid that off 4 years later for absolutely nothing. The last straw was when I completed my deferred sentence and had to return to court to have the charge dismissed and try and get my record sealed. I had to make statement to the judge concerning sealing my records and she gave the most horrible response to the judge, fumbling notes and just gave a generic reason to the judge to seal. I had to literally get up myself, plea with the judge and explain why I should be eligible to get my record sealed. Lucky for me I was well spoken with the judge and he had granted me permission to seal my records no thanks to her. I regret everyday that I hired her and if I could get my money back I would. She showed no compassion or empathy for my case even after knowing what this person was doing to me. I would think twice about hiring Ms. Schmidt, especially if you truly are innocent. I would have been better off with a public defender. I have no idea why she has decent reviews , of course they are all from 7 years ago. I have literally regretted hiring her everyday for the last four years and dealing with her was as bad as the nightmare I went through myself.
