Lawrence McKay III has always loved northern Michigan waters. That passion, fueled by summer vacations on Crystal Lake, led him to convince his wife Joan to move in 1976 from Minnesota, where they had spent two years as attorneys after their graduation from University of Michigan Law School, to Frankfort.
Since then, Larry has been the managing partner of McKay and McKay and has built a general practice, concentrating on real estate litigation, estate planning and probate litigation, and municipal law. He has helped generations of northern Michigan families develop succession plans for their businesses and estate plans for disposition of their assets. In addition to numerous private clients and small businesses, representative clients include the City of Frankfort and the Betsie Lake Utilities Authority.
Larry has been a member of the State Bar of Michigan since 1974, is currently a member of the Probate and Real Estate Sections of the State Bar, and served two terms on the State Bar Subcommittee on Ethics. He holds a BA in literature from the University of Michigan (1969) and is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army (1969-71). He received a JD from the University of Michigan Law School in 1974.
