While in law school, he was Editor in Chief of Alabama Law Review, Hugo Black Scholar, and Research assistant to Professor Charles Gamble. He also received the Order of the Coif.
He passed the bar exams and obtained the license to practice law in the states of Alabama and Florida in 2002 and 2003 respectively.
