Leigh Cortez is a staff attorney in the Real Estate Finance & Investment Group in the New York office. Leigh represents various institutional lenders in connection with the origination of commercial real estate, leasehold and mezzanine loans for various commercial properties located throughout the nation, including office buildings, retail centers, hotels, condominiums and multifamily properties.
Her experience includes the representation of lenders in connection with workouts and the restructuring of loans, as well as the purchase, sale and syndication of commercial mortgage and mezzanine loans.
Leigh also has experience representing various boards of community associations, including condominiums, cooperatives and homeowner associations in connection with various matters such as financing transactions, zoning and land use, as well as enforcement matters. She has represented various clients in connection with the leasing, acquisition, sale and refinancing of commercial real estate.
Leigh received her J.D., magna cum laude, in 2000 from St. John’s University School of Law, where she was a member of the St. John’s Law Review. She received her B.A. in social sciences in 1994 from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Leigh is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
