Linda Edell Howard

Adams And Reese LLP

Linda Howard opened the firm’s Music Row office in Nashville in 2001 and leads the entertainment/new media team. In service to her clients, Linda draws on more than 30 years of experience to add value to her clients and their teams in the areas of entertainment, new media and emerging technology, business strategies, and domestic and international intellectual property law.

Her transaction-based practice focuses on entertainment and emerging technology contracts, practices and procedures, as well as new media platform strategies, social media business transactions, television and film matters, advocacy for creators, and protection for copyright and other intellectual property rights holders.

Linda advocates tirelessly and passionately for the protection of intellectual property rights and the recapture of US copyrights by creators and their heirs. Representing the families of deceased creators is also close to her heart.

Following a judicial clerkship with the New Jersey Supreme Court, Linda practiced law in New Jersey and then in Manhattan, where she handled matters involving international intellectual property rights for the estates of Elvis Presley and George Gershwin. She later joined PolyGram Music Publishing Group as the Vice President of Operations, and then joined the Nashville office of Loeb & Loeb LLP. She is an alumna of Leadership Music, and a member of the Country Music Association, and National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

Other representative clients include GrabGreen, TouchTunes Digital Jukebox, The Listening Room, Topgolf Media LLC and the critically acclaimed educational programs If I Had a Hammer and Muzology. As well, Linda advises numerous key industry executives, social and business entrepreneurs, independent music publishers, songwriters, recording artists, producers, social media celebrities, record labels and related industry players such as banks, unions, inventors and investors.

Linda’s pro bono work includes service to Ordinary Hero, as well as to the legendary ragtime pianist Johnny Maddox and the placement of his historically significant sheet music and recorded music collection. The Tennessee Supreme Court recognized Linda as an “Attorney for Justice” for her pro bono work in 2013, when she provided more than 50 hours of complimentary legal services to those in need.
