
Lisa Thomas was born in Orlando, Florida, and raised in Gotha, Florida. She attended the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida, where she studied Journalism and Communications, with a minor emphasis in Philosophy.
In 2006, while still in college, Ms. Thomas began her work on behalf of plaintiffs at a Gainesville-based personal injury law firm. Ms. Thomas also volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem (a court-appointed child advocate) for the 8th Judicial Circuit.
Ms. Thomas attended law school at Florida A&M University in Orlando, Florida, from 2012 through 2016 while working full-time for Colling Gilbert Wright & Carter. While at FAMU, Ms. Thomas was on the Dean’s List and received two book awards – one in Race and the Law and the one in Pre-Trial Practice.
She was a member of the Federalist Society, Phi Alpha Delta, the Student Bar Association, and the Women’s Law Caucus. As a WLC Executive Board member, Ms. Thomas conceptualized and executed the “New Year, New Hope” toiletry drive for the Women & Children Division of the Orlando Union Rescue Mission.
She also assisted in developing and executing the 2016 Women’s Law Caucus Conference – “Womanhood and Lawyerhood: Can you have it all?” Ms. Thomas further participated in and raised funds for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, a cause to which she continues to be an active contributor.
In September, 2016, Ms. Thomas was admitted to the Florida Bar and joined Colling Gilbert Wright & Carter as an attorney. She is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), Florida Justice Association (FJA), and the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA).
