Lisa Hoffman

A passionate advocate for her clients, Lisa M. Hoffman is a partner on the Medical Malpractice Litigation team. As a hardworking and determined litigator, she has earned a well-respected reputation among her peers in the legal community. Health care providers, including doctors, large hospital systems, nurses, and dentists who have been accused of medical negligence, look to Lisa for her unmatched work ethic.

With more than 10 years of experience, Lisa has tried cases in numerous counties throughout the middle and western parts of the state. She has successfully tried cases as both a first and second chair trial attorney. Lisa has also assisted with appeals, including the drafting of appellate briefs, one of which resulted in a favorable published opinion by the Court of Appeals that is often cited and relied upon by fellow defense attorneys.

In addition, she has successfully defended health care providers before other regulatory authorities, including the North Carolina Medical Board, North Carolina Board of Nursing, North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners, and the North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.

Prior to joining Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, Lisa was an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney, Seventeenth Judicial Circuit in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, Florida, and the District of Columbia.

Outside the courtroom, Lisa finds time to make her passion for community improvement a priority through action. Her involvement in a wide variety of volunteer opportunities is indicative of her many interests and ways in which she elects to influence the community. Lisa’s civic and business contributions serve as inspiration to others. She works tirelessly toward the goals she sets for herself and for those she recruits to encourage positive change and dynamic progress, and she is a strong advocate for children who lack the voice or platform to speak for themselves.
