Lisa McGill Sweatman works closely with clients on government relations matters in South Carolina. Lisa has worked in and around government affairs in Columbia since 2004 and has developed strong relationships within the South Carolina General Assembly, Governor’s office and state agencies that help her advocate for her clients’ best interests.
Lisa is an experienced lobbyist who has worked to represent South Carolina retailers and educational institutions at the state level. She has developed strategy for and managed issues involving labor law, alcohol, pharmacy, grocery, tobacco, doctor pay reimbursements, graduate medical education, health government regulations and the state budget, among others.
Her experience serving the retail and education industries has also given Lisa a comprehensive background in state tax laws. She understands the unique challenges retailers face in today’s ultra-competitive environment and has developed creative solutions to encourage support of legislative initiatives to foster retailers’ success. Lisa’s previous work in the real estate field involved working closely with national grocers and pharmacies, businesses she knows in depth.
In addition to her wealth of experience as a lobbyist, Lisa managed the day-to-day activities of a U.S. Senate campaign from 2003–2004, a role that involved managing a team, vendors and consultants, as well as organizing campaign events and ensuring fundraising goals were met. Lisa has also planned corporate events and served as a real estate agent, roles that showcased her attention to detail, negotiation skills and ability to help two parties find common ground.
