Liz Lucas focuses her practice on intellectual property with an emphasis on patents. She drafts utility patent applications and oversees the application’s prosecution, including management of responses and participation in interviews with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Liz also advises clients on potential infringement liability and options for patent protection. While many of her clients are in the design and construction or telecommunications industries, Liz’s bachelor’s degree in biological sciences has enabled her to work with companies in the life sciences and biotechnology field as well.
During her two-year clerkship with The Hon. Patricia Breckenridge of the Missouri Supreme Court, Liz fine-tuned the writing skills she had honed as the lead articles editor of the Missouri Law Review.
As a staff member of the journal, Liz published an article discussing the disparate treatment in sentencing illegal aliens based on geographic location and analyzing the department of justice’s attempt to remedy the problem.
