Liz Williamson has nearly 20 years of experience in air, waste, groundwater, brownfields, water, and wetlands matters. Liz counsels and defends clients in Clean Air Act matters. She routinely provides advice on federal and state Title V permitting, emissions and compliance.
She represents clients throughout the United States in federal consent decree implementation and negotiation, and she has developed key contacts within U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) headquarters and at many EPA regional offices.
Liz brings insight given her experience when she was seconded to a major power generation company as in-house environmental counsel. Liz has transactional experience as the lead environmental attorney in large acquisitions and sales of assets, particularly with respect to industrial sites.
She has an environmental litigation background, having taken and defended depositions; briefed complex environmental issues in state and federal courts; and participated in trial and appellate proceedings. The cornerstone of Liz’s practice focuses on advising clients on environmental compliance. Liz has a boots-on-the-ground approach. She strives to understand the industrial process first so that she can tailor her legal advice to the business.
Liz has intimate knowledge of power generation facilities. She has also provided advice in the chemical, furniture and tobacco manufacturing sectors. Liz has proactively audited facilities for environmental compliance, as well as worked with U.S. EPA seeking favorable compliance determinations.
Liz received both her Juris Doctor degree, with honors, and her Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, from Florida State University. She is admitted to practice in Virginia, the District of Columbia, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
