Attorney Maria M. Barlow is licensed by the Supreme Court of Illinois as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Attorney Barlow was born, raised, and lives in Chicago–a true Chicago native. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies from North-eastern Illinois University and her Juris Doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School.
During law school, Ms. Barlow showed true leadership and dedication in her studies and extracurricular activities to prepare her to advocate zealously for her clients. Ms. Barlow took on many leadership roles including becoming the President of both the Black Law Students’ Association and the Public Interest Law Counsel. Because of her dedication and sharp litigation skills, Ms. Barlow was selected to participate and represent The John Marshall Law School in the Employment Law Trial Advocacy Competition.
Thereafter, Ms. Barlow took her litigation skills to the courtroom. She has over three-and-a-half years of transactional and litigation experience gained while working for the City of Chicago’s Department of Law in its Corporation Counsel’s office. While working for the City, Ms. Barlow prosecuted cases ranging from minor traffic offenses and traffic fatalities to building code violations.
