Mario A. Richards is an associate in Venable’s Corporate Practice Group. His practice concentrates on a wide range of corporate law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, joint ventures, corporate finance, securities transactions, and corporate governance, with a particular focus on Maryland corporation law as it relates to real estate investment trusts (REITs).
Mario regularly advises startups and emerging growth and later-stage companies across an array of industries, including technology, healthcare, and finance.
Mario has represented issuers in multiple stock and debt offerings and provides ongoing advice on federal and state securities matters to both public and private companies. He also represents investors and developers in real estate joint ventures for commercial, industrial, and multifamily projects.
During law school, Mario was a member of the Duke Law Start-Up Ventures Clinic, where he advised clinic clients on entity formation and drafted documents related to client commercialization strategies and operational issues. Mario was also a student contributor to the Exemptions and Immunities Committee of the American Bar Association Antitrust Section.
