
Mark Rothman focuses his practice on areas like estate & trust administration, estate planning, Corporate, business as well as individual tax. He is one of the founding members of The Law Firm of Paley Rothman. He serves as a senior counsel at his law firm. His clients include big real estate holding companies and big retail operating companies.
He has spent decades in business-related practice, structuring proposed business ventures, including Subchapter-S corporations, limited liability companies, and limited liability partnerships. He has extensive experience of representing clients for the sale and acquisition of a business.
Attorney Rothman has successfully handled sophisticated and complicated estate and succession planning matters, with specific emphasis on family-owned businesses. The Tax Journal, Estate Planning has published him on numerous occasions.
At many programs, he has chaired and lectured extensively on corporate tax planning and estate planning. Previously, he was an active member of many community & civic organizations and participated in numerous bar activities.
He has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Suburban Hospital Foundation and the Suburban Hospital as well as Treasurer of the Bar Association of Montgomery County.
He completed his B.S. from the Syracuse University in 1960. He earned his L.L.B. from the Syracuse University College of Law in 1963. He obtained LL.M. in Taxation from the New York University School of Law in 1964. He acquired bar admissions in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Before entering private practice, He worked as a trial attorney with the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice for five years. He does not practice full-time now, but remains in touch with many clients and continues to work from his home in Aspen, Colorado. He also travels to Bethesda monthly for client meetings as well as to check on life at the firm.
