Martin P. Duffey concentrates his practice representing clients who have suffered catastrophic property and personal injuries and damages. His work includes cases involving fires, floods, defective products, dangerous premises, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, and civil rights violations.

Martin has more than 25 years of experience as a trial lawyer, having tried numerous cases in state and federal courts. Martin is co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Personal Injury Group.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Martin graduated from St. Joseph’s University (B.A. magna cum laude,1986), earned his law degree from Emory University School of Law (J.D., 1989), and his master of law degree in Trial Advocacy from Temple University Beasley School of Law (LL.M., 2010).

While at Emory, Martin was a member of the Moot Court Society’s Special Teams and, along with a teammate, won the Polsky National Moot Court Competition held at Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1988.

Martin served as hiring partner for Cozen O’Connor from 2003 to 2005, improving the ranking of the firm’s Summer Associate Program from near last in the nation to number one and two in consecutive years. He was also actively involved in the firm’s nationwide expansion efforts and was part of the team that opened Cozen O’Connor’s new offices in Houston and New York City.

Martin has been honored by the Legal Intelligencer as an “Unsung Hero” for his pro bono work on a precedential asylum case that he argued twice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Philadelphia and once before the Board of Immigration Appeals in Falls Church, Va.

Martin is active in the community having previously served the office of the mayor as an adviser to a study on neighborhood revitalization as part of Philadelphia’s 21st Century Review Forum. He previously served as president of the board of directors of the Upper Main Line YMCA, Berwyn Branch, and also served as a director of the Upper Main Line YMCA’s Association Board and a member of the Strategic Planning Committee.
