Mathew L. Sampson is a member of the Energy & Natural Resources Department and maintains a diverse practice which includes acquisitions and divestitures, due diligence, exploration and development agreements, land and title, as well as trade agreements and commercial contracts.
He also provides counsel to midstream clients regarding surface use issues and condemnation proceedings. Matt is licensed in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Texas, and Oklahoma and has experience in the following geographic areas:
The Marcellus and Utica shale regions in Appalachia
Oklahoma’s Scoop and Stack plays
The Permian Basin and Eagle Ford shale in Texas
Matt also holds a professional certificate in Blockchain from the University of California, Berkeley and is a member of the Blockchain & Digital Assets Team.
Conduct large-scale due diligence reviews for multi-million dollar acquisitions and divestitures of oil and gas assets, and counsel clients on transaction-specific matters
Provide counsel on various industry trade agreements, including FOAs and JOAs, as well as certain service contracts, including MSAs
Assist clients with choice of entity and entity formation
