Matt Smith is an associate in the firm’s global project finance practice. Mr. Smith received his J.D., with a specialization in business law, from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law in 2018. While in law school, he served as Co-President of the American Constitution Society, as a managing editor on the UCLA Journal of Environmental Law and Policy, and as a member of the Environmental Law Society.
He was a Pro Bono Scholar with the firm in 2015, where he spent part of his summer at Public Counsel in the Community Development Project.Prior to attending law school, he worked as a paralegal with the firm in the international trade practice group in Washington, D.C.
He graduated magna cum laude from The George Washington University in 2013 with a B.A.in political science with a focus in public policy, member of Pi Sigma Alpha, and a minor in economics. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he took a leave of absence to work on President Obama’s campaign in Iowa in 2012. Prior to his work on the campaign, he studied philosophy, politics and economics for a year as a visiting student at Pembroke College, University of Oxford.
