Matthew Pilsner is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Section. Prior to joining Buchanan, Matthew served as a law clerk to the Honorable Terrence F. McVerry of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania for four years. In this role, Matthew conducted legal research and drafted opinions in the areas of labor and employment, civil rights, commercial law, class actions, constitutional law, products liability, personal injury, criminal law, and consumer protection.
He also prepared tentative findings and rulings, plea and sentencing colloquies, pre-trial evidentiary rulings, preliminary charges and jury instructions. While in law school, Matthew served as an editor on the Duquesne Law Review and as an executive member of the Appellate Moot Court Board. He also worked as a teaching assistant and research assistant in the Legal Research & Writing Program, interned with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and clerked in the City of Pittsburgh Department of Law.
