Matthew Kotzen is the founding partner of The Rain Law Firm. He is a nationally renowned expert on insurance coverage and has spoken across the country on topics including The National Flood Insurance Program and insurance coverage disputes.
He manages the firm’s litigation practices including both insurance property claim disputes and personal injury claims. Prior to founding The Rain Law Firm, Mr. Kotzen was the department head of a state-wide insurance defense firm where he represented insurance carriers in the defense of business and property insurance claims.
During his tenure, Mr. Kotzen represented many of the insurance companies which provide homeowner’s insurance coverage throughout the state of Florida. His insight into the inner workings of insurance companies gives him a distinct advantage in representing policyholders in insurance related claims.
With over 20 years of experience, Matthew has represented thousands of clients and recovered millions of dollars in personal injury matters and insurance disputes. Because of his tireless representation of his clients, expertise in his field and highest level of ethical standards, Matthew was honored with acceptance into the membership of Lawyers of Distinction.
He was also selected for Lifetime Membership by Best Attorneys of America and in 2018 was named the Best Personal Injury Attorney in Southern Florida by U.S. Business News.
Having been born and raised in South Florida, Matthew believes strongly in giving back to the local community through civil service and charitable involvement. He has served as a board member of the Hollywood Democratic Club, President of The North Dade Regional Chamber of Commerce and President of The Aventura Chamber of Commerce. As a result of his work with the City of Aventura, Matthew was awarded a Key to the City by then Mayor, Jeffrey Perlow.
In addition, Matthew is an ardent fundraiser for charitable organizations across Miami-Dade and Broward County including “Grapes For Grades” which benefits the Hollywood Florida Scholarship Foundation by providing tuition grants to future college graduates.
