Matthew Criscuolo

Matthew B. Criscuolo practices in the area of complex commercial litigation, handling business disputes involving claims for violation of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, enforcement of non-compete agreements, product liability, construction, commercial foreclosure, and trust and estate matters.

He also represents insurers and reinsurers in complex coverage, claims handling, and bad faith litigation. Before joining the firm in 2013, Matt was an associate at Edwards Wildman.

Matt earned his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center. While in law school, Matt served as articles editor for the Nova Law Review and as research assistant for two prominent professors.

He graduated second in his class, earned seven high-grade awards, and received the ALI-ABA Scholarship and Leadership Award at his law school graduation. Matt received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida.

EXPERIENCE :

• In multiple matters, obtained a favorable result for our client on the basis of arguments either for or against establishing personal jurisdiction over non-resident defendants.
• Represented broker-dealers in a state regulatory action alleging violations of state securities laws, and negotiated a favorable settlement for a small fraction of what the state was demanding.
• Obtained dismissal of a breach of contract and business tort action in Florida state court against our client, an international bank, relating to a failed housing project in the Dominican Republic where the plaintiff sought more than $5 million in damages, attorneys’ fees, and costs.
• Obtained temporary injunctive relief against a condominium association after it sought to construct a $2 million material alteration project to the condominium’s common elements without obtaining proper unit owner approval.
• Obtained a defense verdict and enforcement of an offer of judgment for a client sued in a breach of contract case. The plaintiff sought to enforce a Coblentz Agreement against our client, who issued a medical professional liability policy, and sought more than $3 million in damages, attorneys’ fees, and costs.
