Matthew Yarbrough is an internationally recognized trial lawyer and complex commercial and intellectual property litigator with over 25 years of experience in the areas of cybersecurity, data privacy and white collar, both as an Assistant United States Attorney and in private practice.
Matthew has served as head of the Cybercrimes and Criminal Intellectual Property Task Force for the Department of Justice and was tapped by former Texas Attorney General John Cornyn to be Special Counsel to assist in the creation of the Texas Internet Bureau, a precedent-setting mission in fighting internet fraud and data breaches.
Matthew is a long-standing member of the American Bar Association, the Texas State Bar, the Dallas Bar and the Leadership Dallas. As Assistant United States Attorney, Matthew prosecuted numerous complex white-collar criminal cases involving securities, banking, healthcare and business fraud schemes.
Matthew has been an Adjunct Professor at Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law, teaching Computer Litigation and Trial Advocacy. He has also appeared on such programs as Nightline, 20/20, CNN, MSNBC, Fox National News and A&E’s Investigative Report with Bill Curtis.
His expertise and professionalism have made him a trusted advisor to US businesses. He has spoken on behalf of several multinational companies concerning corporate compliance, cybersecurity and litigation and its impact upon Fortune 500 companies.
He has authored more than a dozen articles, including “Suing the Insecure in Cyberspace” and “Stanger-Torts In the Strange New World of Cyberspace.” His articles have been published in Business 2.0, The Dallas Morning News, and numerous law reviews and law journals.
