Matthew A. Fontana represents management in employment and labor matters. Matthew has worked in a broad range of employment matters under local, state and federal laws, including: Title VII; Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA); Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA); Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); Pennsylvania Human Relations Act (PHRA); New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (NJLAD); Conscientious Employee Protection Act (CEPA); whistleblower laws and OSHA investigations; and restrictive covenant, non-competition and trade secret issues.
Matthew has also defended wage and hour class actions involving state and federal law.
Matthew also handles a variety of traditional labor matters for both public and private sector clients under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), Labor Management Relations Act (LMRA) and Pennsylvania’s Public Employee Relations Act (PERA). Matthew counsels clients on day-to-day labor/management issues (including union organizing and strike issues), handles grievance/arbitration issues and leads collective bargaining negotiations.
Matthew also has Railroad Labor Act (RLA) experience representing both railroad and airline clients. When he is not in the office, Matthew contributes his time to multiple community organizations in the Philadelphia area, including Children’s Village, one of Philadelphia’s premier early childhood education providers, the Center City Residence Association, the National Tay-Sachs & Allied Disease Association and PhillySetGo, a bi-partisan political organization focused on increasing millennial voter turnout in state and local elections.
