Matthew Hofer is an associate in the firm’s Government Matters group, with a practice focusing on environmental and commercial litigation. He has advised clients and litigated cases involving California’s Proposition 65, the California Environmental Quality Act, the California Coastal Act, and the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.
In addition to his environmental work, Matt has experience advising clients on compliance with state and federal warranty law, including the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. He also maintains an active pro bono practice and has received the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services from the State Bar of California every year since 2015.
Matt received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center in 2015. While at Georgetown, he served as an Aricles & Notes Editor for the American Criminal Law Review and worked as a Research Assistant to Professor Susan McMahon. Matt also chaired the Events Committee for Home Court, a Georgetown Law student group that raises money to benefit the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless. He holds a B.A., cum laude, in Political Science and History from the University of California, Los Angeles.
