Matthew M. Karas’s practice includes a wide range of intellectual property issues such as patent prosecution, district court litigation, and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) proceedings. He has extensive experience in electrical and computer technologies, including automobile networking devices, computer hard drive application programs, and mobile payment systems.
Matt leverages his technical experience with electronics to help clients reach desirable IP outcomes. He has helped clients prosecute patent applications in a variety of technology areas, including numerous business method and in-vehicle security patents. He works on prosecution matters at many stages, including initial application creation and filing. His litigation work has included motions practice as well as brief writing.
Matt is a former extern with the USPTO, where he worked in diverse technology areas ranging from business methods to over-the-air signal processing. His time spent at the USPTO and at a university technology transfer office provides him with valuable insight, which he uses to enhance his practice.
