
Matthew L. Litsky’s practice focuses on complex first party insurance coverage, litigation, and counseling. He handles various first-party matters including claims involving catastrophes (hurricanes and earthquakes), suspected burning, fraud, theft, construction and collapse losses, business interruption claims, appraisal matters, jeweler’s block and motor losses.
He also specializes in first-and third-party bad faith matters including excess policy claims. Mr. Litsky has handled and litigated matters for foreign and domestic insurers in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, New York, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and frequently handles hurricane claims in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he is admitted to practice in both the Territorial and Federal District Courts.
Mr. Litsky serves as the Regional Practice Coordinator of the firm’s Insurance and Reinsurance Practice Group, which covers seven offices and 50-plus attorneys.
He lived with his family in London from September 1997 through March 1998 as part of the Secondee Counsel Program run by the DP Mann (now Faraday) Underwriting Syndicate at Lloyds. He served as in-house counsel to DP Mann and other Underwriting Syndicates at Lloyds and Company Market Insurers.
