Matthew R. Weybrecht is an associate in King & Spalding’s Washington, D.C. office in the firm’s Special Matters and Government Investigations Practice Group.
Matthew’s practice focuses on government investigations, white-collar criminal defense, and related civil litigation. Matthew’s experience includes defending companies in investigations by the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Health and Human Services, the Internal Revenue Service, and the FBI.
He has conducted international and domestic internal investigations of companies across a range of industries, including international banks, defense contractors, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, and law firms.
He has advised clients on a number of matters, including healthcare criminal and civil investigations, the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and securities laws and regulations. Matthew also has an active pro bono practice representing veterans and refugees.
Prior to law school, Matthew was a Diplomatic Security Special Agent, first assigned to the Secretary of State’s Protective Detail, and then to the U.S. State Department’s computer investigations and forensics unit. Before that, Matthew served in the military as a United States Army Ranger, deploying multiple times to various combat zones.
