Megan L. Meyers focuses on patent litigation, specifically Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) cases; patent prosecution; and proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). She has technical experience in the biomedical field, including technologies such as prosthetic limbs and orthotic devices.
Megan also has a background in the field of biology and psychology. During law school, Megan completed a certificate program focused on advising biology Ph.D. students on intellectual property matters, including patentability, freedom-to-operate, and obtaining protection for their technologies.
The program also involved analyzing the commercialization of the researchers’ innovative technologies. Megan also worked as an analyst for an angel investing group that evaluates startup companies for investment potential, including the strength of their patent portfolios.
While completing her undergraduate degrees, Megan worked in a prosthetics and orthotics lab, which allowed her to gain experience with the fabrication of various medical devices. She also worked as a biochemistry teaching assistant, which involved tutoring students and leading review sessions for exams.
Megan has a passion for pro bono work, including working with impoverished children and their families, as well as with veterans. During law school, she worked with the Health Law Partnership, a branch of Atlanta Legal Aid that partners with impoverished families with children who are patients at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Her work with these families included addressing landlord/tenant issues, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), disability, and family law matters. As a summer associate at Finnegan, Megan wrote a brief to file with the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims on behalf of an injured veteran. She continues to work on veteran cases as an associate with the firm.
