Meghan Magruder represents companies in complex commercial cases, specializing in contract and insurance disputes. She is a fellow in the American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel and regularly counsels corporate policyholders, boards and senior executives on strategies to maximize contractual transfer of risk, insurance, risk management and corporate governance.
She is a nationally recognized trial lawyer representing clients in trials, arbitrations and international arbitrations and is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.
For more than 30 years, Meghan has successfully assisted her corporate clients in resolving disputes. She has served as lead trial counsel in jury and non-jury trials as well as in international arbitration matters, notably in matters involving insurance claims, indemnity disputes, purchaser/supplier disputes, mass tort defense and product liability litigation.
Meghan handles matters relating to a wide range of insurance policies, risks and claims. These include cyber, general liability, property, directors and officers, crime, employment, environmental, business interruption and construction issues. She also advises companies on strategies for maximizing cost recovery in matters involving large numbers of cases and claims, including consumer class actions, mass torts, asbestos and other toxic tort litigation.
Meghan serves as general counsel for the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations and as general counsel for the North American Transmission Forum. She is frequently asked to speak to professional associations on litigation, risk management and insurance issues. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute, a past officer of the American Bar Association Section of Litigation and past president of the Environmental Commission of the Union Internationale des Avocats.
In 2013, she was recognized as one of Georgia’s most powerful and influential female lawyers, and in 2001 she received the ABC News “Toyota Working Woman” award. She is active in her community serving on the boards of the United Way and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
