Melissa Jeanine Ackie represents employers on a wide range of labor and employment matters. She has extensive experience in handling litigation in arbitration, federal, and state courts across Texas, and is well-versed in the Texas court system.

She has assisted clients in the defense of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims, as well as class action wage and hour litigation in matters involving claims of unpaid overtime and off-the-clock work.

In addition to representing clients in litigation, Melissa has represented clients during investigations conducted by the U.S. Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Texas Workforce Commission.

Melissa also conducts training sessions and provides advice on numerous labor and employment law topics including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation issues, wage and hour issues, internal workplace investigations, employee release agreements, and leave and accommodation issues.

Before joining Littler, Melissa’s practice primarily focused on representing individuals and companies in Texas state courts, federal courts, and arbitrations in a variety of civil litigation defense actions.

While in law school, Melissa served as a judicial intern for Federal Judge Melinda Harmon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, and represented the University of Texas School of Law at nationals in the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition.
