Melissa B. Capotosto focuses her practice on trademark, copyright, trade secret, trade dress, unfair competition, internet, and licensing issues. She manages large trademark portfolios and has worked with foreign counsel to secure and enforce national and international marks. Ms. Capotosto counsels clients and enforces their rights with regard to domain name disputes including through Uniform Domain-Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceedings. She has participated in intellectual property litigation in federal courts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Ms. Capotosto secures copyright and trademark registrations for a broad range of clients.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Capotosto was an associate in the Atlanta, Georgia office of a national law firm where she concentrated her practice on trademark, trade dress, unfair competition, copyright, trade secret, internet, licensing, and patent matters. Previously, Ms. Capotosto worked as an associate for a law firm based in Atlanta, Georgia that represents artists and companies involved in the entertainment industry.
While attending law school, Ms. Capotosto received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Internet Law, Doing Deals: IP Transactions, and Art Law. She also served as an intern in the legal department of a television station in Atlanta, a nonprofit organization for the representation of artists, and a boutique media law firm and a research assistant for Professor Michael Kang where she conducted research concerning election law and related issues.
While attending the University of Maryland, Ms. Capotosto studied abroad at the London Metropolitan University in London, England during the spring of 2009.
