Melissa Lou works with companies and individuals to protect their interests in investigations by federal and state government agencies as well as in corporate internal investigations. Melissa previously served in the Department of Justice as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the economic crimes division, focusing on federal program fraud, tax fraud, investment fraud, False Claims Act matters, and corruption.
Drawing on that experience, Melissa counsels clients in undertaking internal investigations, as well as in all stages of government investigations, from search warrants and grand jury subpoenas to trials and appeals.
Melissa has worked closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Secret Service, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Internal Revenue Service, and the U.S. Postal Service.
Prior to joining Holland & Hart LLP, Melissa worked at Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, D.C., advising companies on internal investigations and in federal and state government investigations.
Melissa served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jerome A. Holmes of the Unites States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and as a law clerk to the Honorable David G. Campbell of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona.
