Meredith C. Bailey is a senior associate in the Labor & Employment Department of Seyfarth Shaw’s Chicago office. Her national employment law practice focuses on helping companies navigate U.S. equal employment opportunity laws. Specifically, she helps employers develop strategies to prevent and resolve employment discrimination litigation under federal and state anti-discrimination statutes.
As a member of the firm’s Organizational Strategy and Analytics Team, Ms. Bailey helps companies design and implement metrics for tracking, assessment and achievement of workforce objectives and goals. For clients who are federal or state contractors, Ms. Bailey provides specialized assistance developing and implementing affirmative action plans, as well as advice on complying with other contract compliance obligations.
Ms. Bailey approaches client engagements with a special understanding of the day-to-day challenges in-house counsel and HR professionals face because she has served as temporary counsel on secondment for two international technology companies. She provides practical advice that considers both compliance risks and larger business objectives when helping her clients tackle the legal issues that arise from employing a modern workforce, such as employee classification and wage payment issues.
Ms. Bailey is also a frequent speaker and author on topics related to workplace metrics, employment discrimination, affirmative action compliance, pay equity, and diversity & inclusion. She also assists employers evaluate pay practices through proactive pay equity audits as a member of Seyfarth’s Pay Equity Group.
